Broadband Speed Test - IPv4 Only

Welcome to our broadband speed testing page. To use our tester, you must have Flash installed and enabled. If you are experiencing difficulties, please read our troubleshooting section below.

If you want to know what your IP address is, why not take a look at our 'What's My IP?' page.

This test page is specifically configured to only run tests using IPv4 addresses, irrespective of whether your connection supports IPv6 via tunnelling or a native connection. If your connection is only IPv6 based the test on this page will load but will not run.

The test is running in our test labs area so the result will not be logged to your thinkbroadband.com profile.

Test Information

This test is designed for users on home broadband connections.

Please allow up to 2 to 3 minutes for the test to complete. Results are logged for statistical purposes and are an indication of your connection speed only. Results may also be shared with your service provider to help troubleshoot problems or improve their service. If the test does not complete or does not load the test results, please see our FAQ for advice.

Troubleshooting

The speedtester uses Adobe Flash Player and if our tester does not load or fails to run we recommend checking you have the latest version of Flash installed and enabled in your web browser.

The speedtester connects to TCP port 8095 using a custom protocol and also uses HTTP protocol over TCP port 80. Please ensure these ports are not blocked by firewalls.

Please see our FAQ for advice on frequent problems like the results page not loading.

If you see particularly slow speeds, and are using wireless (WiFi) we recommend connecting to your broadband router using an Ethernet cable.

If you receive the message "Unable to connect, please try again later.", you may be running a firewall or a network configuration which is preventing the tester from connecting. If your Internet access is restricted via a web proxy server only, you will not be able to run this test.

You can also estimate your speed using our Download Test Files.
